A Little About Me

 My name is Rex!
Hi I'm Laurie. I would like to share with you a bit about myself, as well as how Doggie Playdate came to be, so that you may get a better feel for who is taking care of your dog and home. I have always had an undying love for animals. Since I was a girl, I was rescuing baby bunnies that had jumped out of their mother's care, or taking in strays. We (my husband and I) own a beautiful Yellow Labrador Retriever mix named Kiley who is just turning two this fall. Kiley is a giant lap dog who loves his share of love and attention. I am also a volunteer Dog Walker at The Ramapo Bergen Animal Refuge in Oakland, NJ (so if you stop by be sure to say hi!) and regularly take dog training and certification courses there, in order to walk the harder level dogs.

Prior to opening Doggie Playdate, I had a corporate career in sales and catering. I worked at several famous Restaurants and Conference Center Companies in and around Manhattan such as Tavern on the Green, Sardi's, Dolce International, and Aramark Harrison Conference Centers. During the majority of my career, my specialty was booking, planning, and managing Opening Night Parties, where I catered to famous Hollywood and Broadway Stars. In addition to these jobs, I worked mornings and evenings as an ACE Certified Personal Trainer, helping people get in shape. I enjoyed this work, but I had been dreaming about animal care since I was a child, and started seriously considering it as a career, after pet sitting for family's and friend's pets. Beginning Doggie Playdate is the best decision I have ever made in my life, and know that this was my calling in life; to love all dogs large and small, so that they may lead happier lives.

During this time, I have realized how precious our pets are in our lives, and how important it is to be able to trust fellow pet handlers with their care. That is why I decided to begin Doggie Playdate, so that we all may do just that. I am bonded and insured, and upon request will be happy to provide references. I take enormous pride in the fact that I personally provide all dog sitting and dog walking services to my clients.
